The way we start our morning can have a huge impact on the rest of our day. Setting your alarm 10 minutes earlier and a few simple actions for your body and soul can make you stay much calmer and better focused during the day and a lot happier in the long run 😊 If you want to know what I do every morning for my well-being and better quality of life, go on reading!

  1. Regular sleep

Before starting I’d like to emphasize how crucial the hygene of sleep is. As you probably already know- to regenerate, feel healthy and rested human body needs around 7 or 8 hours of sleep every day. Curiously, after my own research (based on what my body tries to communicate me) the regularity of our rest is as important as the right amount of it. If we want to have enough energy to give the world the best version of ourselves the following day, this fact is worth being taken into consideration.

2. A break from social media

First thing we usually do straight after waking up is taking our phone to turn the alarm off. This way it is very easy to get distracted by the notifications from Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. These sites are built to make us crave being updated from the very first seconds we start our day. But as many insights (not only mine!) show, to overcome the impulsive scrolling of online trash is to be freed and to have more space in our heads to actually think of the things that matter.

3. A glass of water

This point may sound cliché to some of you but actually is extremely important. When I myself feel dehydrated my attention span is way shorter than normally. A glass of water after eight hours of sleep is a great way to naturally stimulate many processes in our body. Everything inside us happens thanks to this simple liquid, so why not to remember about such a simple morning habit that can change a lot?

4. Move yourself!

A great way to wake up our bodies is to make a practice of a simple sequence of exercises our habit: spinal twists, ankle circles or anything you feel like doing! Personally I am a big fan of yoga which a few years ago opened my eyes on how taking care of our body and breath is connected with our well-being and emotional health. Yoga does not have to be treated only like a spiritual practice associated with eastern religions but like an inspiration to try exercises that help discover and understand the mysteries of one’s body.

I really enjoy getting inspired by many different sources-one of which is the YouTube platform. Down below I leave you some of my favourite videos perfect to start your day in a healthy and self-conscious way 🙂

5. A prayer

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed. – Mark 1:35

To feel the ever-changing influence of God’s influence in our lives it is worth setting out some time to talk to Him in the morning. Actually even a couple of minutes are a great chance: a simple expression of gratitude for receiving a brand new day as a gift or being conscious that Jesus is with us in every second, every hardship.

To pray is also to experience the dialog so listening to what Jesus wants us to hear that very day is as important as talking to Him. It is crucial to set some time during the day to immerse ourselves in Bible. I know, it is not always easy to find 15 or 20 minutes before going to university, school or work. I usually ready my Bible in the evening, right before my bedtime because then I no longer feel the rush that too often is a great description of my morning 🙂 Despite that, every morning I try to find a few minutes to open up the New Testament on a random page and let it touch my heart and work through me during the next couple of hours.

6. Affirmations

Affirmations could be defined as consciously setting Your mind for the day. It is creating a phrase, a word or getting inspired by a quote (for example from the Bible) and repeating it aloud or silently in Your mind. Affirmations are a type of meditation- they work best when combined with breathing exercises.

My favorite affirmations are quotes form the Bible (”I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”- Flp 4:13, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me”- Ps 23:4) or words like peace and trust.

This practice doesn’t have to take You lots of time. Only 2-3 minutes of consciously repeating the affirmations every day could be beneficial in Your pursue of a happier and healthier mind. I try to finish every morning prayer (see the point number 5 😀) with a few minutes of affirmations and I can say that they do miracles to me!

These are all the ideas that I wanted to share with You today. I know that for many people a beginning of a new year is a perfect time for setting yourself new goals and resolutions. That is why I encourage You to list setting up new routines among one of the most significant ideas for 2024.
