What to do in uncertain times?

There is no denying that the current situation in the world is a significant source of concern for many people. The constant tension caused by an uncertain political and financial future, along with the waves of distressing news that flood us every day, is simply too much for any of us to bear. What can we do in these uncertain times to secure our future? I invite you to read my perspective on this topic. 😊

  1. Pray for those who are suffering and facing difficulties

Wars, persecution, depression, poverty, and anxiety are just a few of the problems spreading on a massive scale. People like us struggle daily with overwhelming burdens that they cannot bear alone. Often, the challenges of today’s world exceed human strength.

Personally, I know no better form of help than prayer. And yes, I know many of you might be rolling your eyes right now, but this is the truth! Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have in the battle against the evil that seeks to take control of this world. What we need most right now is a rise of our awareness and a transformation of our hearts. We need an inner change to turn away from evil once and for all!

Scripture is very clear in this context:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7

What we, as well as those experiencing suffering and hardship, truly need is God’s peace. This is not about pretending that our problems don’t exist or clinging to some illusion of peace offered by politicians. Absolutely not. This is the peace that “transcends all understanding”—it is not something this world can provide. It is something far greater.

So, dear friends, I wholeheartedly encourage myself and all of you: before anything else, let us pray for this divine peace and for those who need to find Jesus.

2. Get involved in volunteering/support initiatives

Another way to help is by directly engaging in a cause that is particularly important to you. I know I’ve written about this before (here: https://to-see-more.com/unusual-ways-to-express-i-love/) but volunteering is truly amazing! There are countless organizations currently looking for willing helpers, so you will definitely find something you can contribute to—whether it’s environmental protection, refugee aid, social inequalities, or any other cause.

If your free time is limited, you can still support these initiatives financially or by sharing your own skills and resources. For example, during multiple editions of “Sylwester z Ubogimi” (“New Year’s Eve with the Homeless”), which I was involved in organizing, we needed the support of many institutions, restaurants, and companies providing essential goods (clothing, food, hygiene products, etc.). Perhaps you are connected to such a place—if so, don’t hesitate to take action! 😊

3. Be mindful of what you contribute to the world

This point has been particularly close to my heart lately. As I mentioned earlier, the world is currently filled with suffering, tension, and low energy. We may ask ourselves: Where does all this come from? Why do we constantly encounter so much hate and negativity in our relationships and on social media? The answer is surprisingly simple: because so many of us neglect our inner world. We live in an era focused on outward appearances, new clothes, and gadgets, making self-reflection more challenging than ever before.

In the face of hardships such as pandemics, wars, and illnesses, many people have experienced an inner awakening. However, just as many have become even more frustrated and pessimistic.

The choice is ours. We have two options: to “catch” anxiety, hatred, and negativity and spread them further, deepening the world’s suffering—or to decide to create happiness around us, regardless of circumstances.

But is this even possible? How can we apply this in practice? I highly recommend an absolutely amazing book that continues to teach me a lot: â€œDziennik radości” by Agnieszka Maciąg. If you read only one book this year, let it be this one! 😃

4. Look around you

So many senseless things are happening in the world that many of us wish we could stand in the shoes of those in power and rearrange a few things… But in reality, it’s not that simple. So let’s focus on what we can actually change. 🙂

I believe we can all agree that apart from influencing ourselves, our greatest impact is on our immediate surroundings. Sometimes, we aim to make a huge impact while overlooking the needs right in front of us.

So, try asking yourself these questions:

  • Do you know someone among your loved ones who needs to be heard? Someone who feels rejected and needs you to give them your time?
  • Are there people around you struggling due to their financial situation? How can you help them without expecting anything in return?
  • Are there any responsibilities you consciously neglect that could contribute to someone else’s well-being?
  • Is there another way you can support someone, helping them carry the burdens of daily life?

I have many answers to each of these questions—I believe we all do. There is so much we can do if we approach this topic sincerely and without excuses. 🙂

5. Draw your strength from the Source

Last but not least!

Dear friends, we cannot accomplish anything as well on our own as we could with God. He must be the center of our world, the driving force that motivates us to live each day beautifully and meaningfully. To truly live, we must draw from the inexhaustible Source that is Him.

The Bible tells us many times that Earth is not our final home; that the pain, sin, and suffering of this world will pass away, but His Kingdom will not.

  • Philippians 3:20“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
  • Hebrews 13:14“For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:1“For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”

This is what we must hold on to. My believing friends and I often wonder how non-believers cope in these times. Looking at everything happening in the world today, without the awareness of Heaven, I would be truly terrified. Our entire perspective changes when we realize that there is more beyond these difficulties and suffering.

That’s all for today 😃 I hope this post will help You to change Your perspective on today’s world situation. We are way more powerful than it might seem <3

With love,

Kasia
