Today some words about meditation. For a couple of years this topic has been getting more and more popular and I think that’s amazing! There are countless advantages of meditation so it is very hard to put them all in one place. For this reason I want to share with You the ones I see as the most significant that You can also apply to Your everyday life.

  1. Meditation is for everyone

Many people perceive meditation as something only for experienced professionals and keep explaining that they don’t know where to start or that they are not made for it. Nothing could be further from the truth! Doesn’t matter on what stage of life You are now in, meditation (if practiced regularly) is something for You!

2. You can practice everywhere

Contrary to appearances, meditation is a tool You can use whenever and wherever You are. Actually every place You are in is a great place to start- Your desk at work, a bedroom, a park or a stuck in a traffic jam. In all of these spots You can take a minute to focus on Your breath and try to ease Your mind.

3. Take control over stress

Meditation is a great tool You can use to deal with stressful situations. If You are before an exam that makes You lie awake at night or You are anxious about any meeting- meditation is there for You! Using many different kinds of meditation like breathing techniques, affirmations or thought labelling You can perceive Your situation in a totally different way and achieve a peaceful state of mind.

4. Self-awareness

Meditation is also a great way to be more self-aware. When we are able to take control over the mumbling in our heads, we are less reactive to our “inner critic”. It always makes us think that we are not good enough, too weak to achieve anything or just the opposite- it fuels our ego, one of our worst enemies. Thanks to mindfulness techniques we can explore our good and bad traits and set ourselves realistic expectations.

5. The true value

This part is directly connected with the point number 4. Meditation is a journey into Your inner nature, discovering Your nature as a human being, a perfect masterpiece of the Creator. When the entire world will struggle to let You down, You can always take a step back and listen what Your inner-self, Your soul, is telling You. This is the place from which our calm, serenity, love and true happiness come from. We are armored with all these amazing things by our loving Father who wants us to use them as much as possible.

6. Focusing on the present moment

Nowadays it is very easy to be asleep. What do I mean by that? Being asleep is not being present in the “here and now”. Affected by the constant flow of social media’s notifications we find it extremely hard to keep our focus and truly rejoice in the present moment. Meditation might be a great way not only to avoid distractions at work but also to become a better listener (we give other people our undivided attention) and see more beauty in casual things (evening sun covering the walls of our room, smile of a person met on our way to university).

7. Sleep soundly

Many doctors specialized in research of how meditation affects nervous system of a human agree that meditation is extremely helpful for those who suffer from insomnia. Instead of 10 minutes of scrolling Instagram before bed, 10 minutes of meditation and breathing exercises might better Your sleep quality! Personally checked and recommended 🙂

8. Being less reactive

As I mentioned before, meditation can help us overcome our negative thoughts and emotions that play a huge role in our daily life and decision-making. Usually having a bad day, being affected by negativity, we impulsively make unhealthy choices like taking stimulants or eating trash food. A skill of separating our decisions from our thoughts can help us during the days when we crave a cigarette or an entire bucket of ice cream. Thanks to meditation You can find it easier to cope with impulsiveness.

9. Endless list of benefits to our body

It has been proven that many different methods of meditation can influence our body which is closely connected to our psyche and spirituality. The body scan practice is recognized as a great tool to ease pain. Through knowing and accepting all the feelings in Your body You can easily cope with discomfort and pain. Of course, when Your case is something serious make sure to contact Your doctor! In any event, meditation can help You lessen the influence of Your thoughts on Your general well-being and have a positive impact on Your mood. What is more, meditation is also know to reduce blood pressure, helps to deal with heart diseases, depression, anxiety or even with cancer.

10. Develop Your creativity and imagination

Last but not least! 🙂 Today, when we have anything we want at hand and we are crazily busy, there is not much time left to develop the parts of ourselves that are not directly connected with our work and day-to-day tasks. At this point, meditation is very helpful because the benefits of meditation also cover topics such as imagination and creativity! Thanks to its benefits we can think outside the box, see much more and develop our mind.

Of course, the list of meditation’s benefits could be much longer! Every year people who make research in this area discover new pluses of meditating. From my personal experience I can say that the more I meditate, the more benefits of meditation I see: I am much happier, calmer and I find it easier to deal with stressful situations. One thing is sure: if You decide to make daily meditation a habit, after some time You will be able to point out these life-changing benefits in many areas of Your life.

So what are You waiting for?

Let me know if You have ever tried meditating, feel free to share Your thoughts and experiences in the comment section <3

With love,

Kasia
